What is the recommended age for Ooka Island?
Ooka Island is recommended for children pre-school to grade 2. Generally speaking, children in these grades have no difficulty handling the program on their own.
However, some three-year-olds who are very comfortable with technology and are ready to get into reading can also benefit from the program. They can develop essential pre-reading skills as they learn about letters and their sounds and listen to the books.
For the best results, we suggest that parents of three-year-olds sit with the child and guide them through the activities, at least in the beginning.
The program can also be very beneficial for children beyond grade 2 who are struggling with reading, as it works on mastery of the five foundational reading skills necessary to become a confident reader.
