Ooka Island is recommended for children pre-school to grade two. Generally speaking, children in these grades have no difficulty handling the program on their own.
However, some three-year-olds, who are very comfortable with technology and are ready to get into reading, can also benefit from the program. They can develop essential pre-reading skills, as they listen to the books and learn about letters and their sounds.
For the best results, we suggest that parents of three-year-olds sit with the child and guide them through the activities, at least in the beginning.
The program can also be very beneficial for children beyond grade two, who are struggling with reading, as it works on mastery of the five foundational reading skills necessary to become a confident reader.
