What happens when a student reaches book 85?

As students progress through the 24 phonological levels of Ooka Island, they may finish reading all the books before completing all the phonological levels.

In the event that students reach book 85 before reaching level 24, their progress along the book path will be adjusted so that they can review previously read books while they complete the phonological activities.

By adjusting their book path, students are able to review books with the accompanying comprehension activities that align with each book.

For example

  • If a student is below level 18 when they complete book 85, their progress on the book path will be adjusted so that they will be able to re-read books 56 through 85 while working their way through the remaining phonological levels.
  • If a student is between levels 18 and 22 when they complete book 85, their progress on the book path will be adjusted so that they will be able to re-read books 70 through 85 while working their way through the remaining phonological levels.
  • If a student is at level 22 or above when they complete book 85, they unlock the key to the popcorn library and are free to choose the book they would like to read.
